Matthew Beverley-Stone
Communications Officer

Matthew is a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Dual Diagnosis at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a large specialist health and social care agency providing support to individuals, families and communities affected by mental illness, learning disability and/or drug and alcohol related problems.

Having worked in the health and social care field in a variety of roles since the early 1990's, he has proceeded to develop a career in mental health nursing within the NHS, before pursuing further study in the area of addictions. He has worked in a number of services across the Midlands, North West and North Wales and been involved in the development of a number of specialist interventions for those affected by problem substance use, particularly in the criminal justice field.

Since 2004 Matthew has moved back towards more formal mental health nursing, providing much needed expert interventions around co-morbidity. As his current title suggests, he has an active role in educating, training, research and ensuring that services are developed on a needs led basis, reflecting a modern NHS. In addition to this and his ANSA role Matthew provides specialist reports and training for legal services.

Matthew has joined the NEC wanting to participate in driving forward an understanding of the ever changing and complex agenda of substance use, particularly with regards to co-morbidity.
