HH Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins QC will be speaking.

What is the UK's drugs control strategy? Is it working? What are the alternatives?

In the light of a recent high-profile conference at Cumberland Lodge, HH Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins QC will report on the expert testimony given on the current drugs control system, its effectiveness, and the potential improvements that were suggested at the conference.

Whatever its political hue, a new government will take office in 2010. What will be the constraints upon it in the area of drugs control? What advice would experts seek to give it? Are there differences in the way the major parties see the path ahead?

Come to this talk to discuss your views about drugs and drug control, and to hear the latest advice experts would seek to give government about drugs in the UK.

Scoping Workshop for the
Proposed NICE Single Technology Appraisal
Albinterferon alfa-2b for the treatment of hepatitis C

Date: Wednesday 12 May, 2-4.30pm
Venue: NICE Office, London
Cost: Attendence is free, but registration via ANSA is required.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has been invited to carry out an appraisal of albinterferon alfa-2b for the treatment of hepatitis C.

ANSA has been invited to send two representatives to the scoping workshop for this proposed appraisal.

The aim of the workshop is to:

  • Ensure that the scope and remit have been appropriately defined;
  • Discuss the main issues raised by consultees and commentators in their written comments on the draft remit and draft scope;
  • Ensure that relevant issues are highlighted to the manufacturer or sponsor of the technology who will be making the evidence submission and to the Evidence Review Group who will carrying out a review of the evidence submission for the proposed appraisal, should it proceed.
